Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
I received this book as a Christmas gift and could not make myself put it down! Flynn takes a common mystery and flips it on its head. With chapters alternating between the worried husband and past diary entries of the missing wife, the two viewpoints eventually collide in a shocking denouement that will keep you scratching your head for days.
Academy Award winning director, Kathryn Bigelow takes on the monumental task of telling the story of the decade-long mission to find Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden. The Oscar-buzz surrounding this film has been palpable since the project was announced and rightly so. Despite the fact that you already know the destination, Zero Dark Thirty keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire journey.
I’m embarrassed to admit, I’m a little late to The Lumineers train. This Denver-based folk band’s self-titled, debut album dropped in April 2012 and took off from there. I was given a copy earlier this month and I find myself unable to listen to anything else. The seemingly simple songs about love and loss create unique motifs that have lead The Lumineers to the Grammys with two nominations, including Best New Artist. I don’t think this buzz will be dying down anytime soon.
