COFFEE HOUSES
By Pamely Lewy

While other cities may sleep, New Yorkers get their boundless energy with a little help (or a lot) from caffeine. With coffee houses and Starbucks on just about every corner, our city’s lively inhabitants are able to work all day and still party all night. Here are some of our favorites…

Joe - "The Art of Coffee"
141 Waverly Place
212-924-6750

A favorite neighborhood coffee house among Babbo staff, Joe, is more than just great coffee and great service…the cups o’Joe are actually beautiful, with and foamy artistic flare. Their original location is onWaverly, just down the block from Babbo, but they are opening of a branch at 9 East 13th Street.

Café Reggio

Corner of MacDougal and West 3rd Street
Cafe Reggio has been serving espressos to the area's jittery populace and NYU students since 1927. Legend has it that The original owner supposedly imported the first espresso machine into America. It's also claimed that he introduced the cappucino to America (or at least the Village).

Grey Dog’s Coffee Ltd.
33 Carmine St
212-462-0041

You’ll feel as if you just entered a little shop in Cape Cod. Great coffee paired with their cozy and homey atmosphere will create a little relaxing oasis away from it all. They serve breakfast, Lunch and dinner too!

McNulty's Tea & Coffee Company

109 Christopher Street
between Bleecker and Hudson

If you're not into going out to drink your coffee, down in the in the heart of Greenwich village sits this unique beverage emporium, which has been selling exotic coffees and teas since 1895! Little has changed since, except their list of products, which keeps growing every year.
