STAFF PICKS

So what’s hot for summer? Who can resist shopping for new fashions and dining on yummy snacks in Soho on a spring day?

Theo
325 Spring Street
Theo, a new eatery fashioned by Jonathan Morr of Republic and APT fame, is drawing crowds south. Breathing new life into the Soho dining scene Theo’s simple affordable menu is colored with French accents and unpretentious American style. The minimal hip decor will show off your new spring duds while you dine in one of their comfy couches. Try the duck breast with truffled mashed potatoes or a couple mini desserts served in little cups. With the option to order most of the menu in small portions, Theo is great when you have to eat and run just to squeeze in one more look at the new downtown Prada.

Dean and Deluca
560 Broadway
What has not been said about this gourmet treasure trove? Mario says Dean and Deluca is the expensive temple of all that is good in the world of food. Expensive it may be, but when you need the choicest cuts of meat, the finest ingredients, and the extravagance of foreign foods found abroad, we suggest wiggling your way through the cramped isles of the original Soho location. Take your time to appreciate its many departments, just don’t expect to get in and out of there in a flash when you’ve forgotten that last minute item for your swank dinner party!

Melampo
105 Sullivan Street
If shopping is all you have time for during your visit in Soho, don’t miss out on a sandwich at Melampo foccaceria. Alessandro Gualando, who some consider the "sandwich nazi" will keep the line moving in this closet Italian eatery. Nevermind there is nowhere to sit-the park next door makes for a great pit stop. The sandwiches have great names like Pinnochio. And though they are big enough for two, you can’t find fresher Italian ingredients-arugula, Parma ham, smoked mozzarella, sopressatta-settled into more authentic Italian bread anywhere else but here.
