SORBETTI by Sarah Lagrotteria As June’s temperature rises, stomachs plead for a chilling and light dessert. What’s more refreshing than a smooth and icy sorbette to help us all chill out? Whether craving classic flavors or unusual fruity flavor combinations, New York City’s got ‘em. We at Babbo remain faithful fans of Gina DePalma's exquisite sorbetti- our current faves being kiwi and huckleberry. Babbo’s staff have picked some other sorbetto favorites… NYC ICY 21 Avenue B at 2nd Avenue 212-979-9877 Jonathan and Suzie Leeds, inspired by their son’s milk allergy, decided to take sweet matters into their own hands and opened up this east village sorbet shop, where only the finest quality ingredients go into their creative sorbets. With flavors like creamsicle, chocolate peanut butter, and apricot-ginger, nobody misses the milk. CONES 272 Bleecker Street, NYC, between Morton and Jones Street 212-414-1795. Opened in 1988 by two Argentinean brothers who scoop out exceptional sorbette flavors like sweet watermelon or mouth-puckering green apple. Marino’s Italian Ices (Sold almost everywhere- grocery stores, parks, etc). These classic Italian ices bring smiles to kid’s faces and joyful childhood memories to nostalgic adults. Ciao Bella (Multiple Locations) Bringing Italian gelato and sorbetto into every home, any time of year! We especially love the lemongrass-coconut and apricot chardonnay. |
