Summer is sadly coming to an end but that doesn’t mean that you still can’t get away for one more weekend. With the weather still nice and gas prices still under ten dollars a gallon, September is the perfect month for a getaway. We’ve come up with five great suggestions…all accessible by train or car and tons of fun!

If it were not for the fact that it’s a couple of hours from New York City, we’d be up here every day just to drink Saratoga’s delicious spring water. Aside from its lush national resources, Saratoga is known for its great horse races and SPAC- Saratoga’s outdoor performing arts facility. Just remember to bring a jug to fill with water before you leave!

Even though its become more populated and crowded over the past few years – there’s an obvious reason – It’s gorgeous and there’s a million cultural events – from concerts at Tanglewood to the Norman Rockwell museum to delicious restaurants, you wont be bored for a second.

Located at the end of the palisades parkway, Bear Mountain is just as scenic as it is fun! You can hike on their 4 miles of windy trails, get massaged in their relaxing resort Inn at Bear Mountain or just bask in the splendor of the Hudson valley’s outdoor beauty.

Camping, hiking, kayoing on the Delaware and playing in the park…this is a great family getaway if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous. Campground sites give you all the information you need to camp safely…

If you’re craving some small town flavor – this is the getaway you’ll want to take. The oldest inland city in the nation, with its 18th-century buildings and the Amish communities nearby, makes you feel like you’re in a historic movie. Tour the covered bridges as you enjoy the beautiful rolling hills and agricultural fields. And make sure you stop for some Pennsylvania Dutch cooking.”….

Wherever you head, have fun and be safe!
